Customize-able Shelving Unit

Hey there people.  Have you ever wanted to have one of those ikea shelving units or bought a generic one from the stores and then to find that it wasn't exactly what you had wanted?  It was either expensive for something flimsy or the shelf was a 3 by 3 which was nice but it just wasn't homely? And then with so-called customize-able ones, it turns out had lots of pieces and needed an allenwrench with screw holes that would of worn down over time and you'd have to throw it out anyway?

So... I decided to come up with something, being the crafty me... (naturally).  ^.^ I took these milk crates in black, and stacked them together.  There's one in the other room that is a 3 by 3 which is common looking and as for the one in the living room. I set up a staircase effect.  Doesn't it look awesome?  It stores things, organizes, and at the same time doubles up decoration opening up the room!  Who would of thought right?

Other people have used milk crates as storage before, but it didn't seem right.  They put it on a shelf again which I feel is taking up space and it's way too high to access. Lol.
